The petition has been filed, inter alia, seeking a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to count petitioner's ad hoc service towards seniority and other consequential benefits. 2.
Learned State counsel contends that the issue stands settled by the Supreme Court in State of Haryana v. Haryana Veterinary and AHTS Association, 2000 (8) SCC 4, and Malook Singh and others v. State of Punjab and others, (2021) SCC OnLine SC 876, wherein it has been held that benefit of ad hoc service prior to regularisation cannot be counted for the purpose of seniority.

In view of the settled legal position, the prayer cannot be granted.
