Mr. N.C. Kinra, Advocate for the petitioner Ms. Manpreet Dhaliwal, AAG, Punjab **** RITU BAHRI , J. (Oral) Quashing of FIR No. 131 dated 13.06.2009 under Sections 406/498-A IPC, registered at Police Station Malerkotla, Distt Sangrur, is being sought.

Respondent No. 2 got married to petitioner on 25.06.2008. Due to incompatibility of temperament, both the parties could not live together as husband and wife. No child was born out of this wedlock. The relationship between them became strain and thereafter, the F.I.R was registered against the petitioners on account of bringing less dowry and harassment caused by the petitioner.

Learned counsel for the petitioner has placed on record the copy of statement of the complainant dated 12.08.2016 with regard to the fact that the matter stands compromised between the parties. The statement of the complainant in original is taken on record as Annexure A-1. She stated that she has compromised the matter with the accused person and she GAURAV ARORA 2016.08.24 15:57 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

Crl. Misc. No. M-21426 of 2009 (O&M) has no grudge against the accused. She does not want to proceed further against the accused and has no objection, if the present F.I.R be quashed against the petitioner. She stated that she received Rs.7.5 lacs in cash from the petitioner as full and final settlement. Nothing is due towards petitioner now. The compromise is without any fear and pressure. Consequently, in view of the statement of the complainant and in view of the judgment of the Hon'ble Supreme Court in the case of Dr. Arvind Barsaul etc. versus State of Madhya Pradesh and another 2008(2) RCR (Criminal) 910, no useful purpose would be served in prolonging the litigation.

Accordingly, FIR No. 131 dated 13.06.2009 under Sections 406/498-A IPC, registered at Police Station Malerkotla, Distt Sangrur, is quashed along with all consequential proceedings arising therefrom qua petitioner.

The petition stands disposed of.
