Sharma, Advocate for the petitioners. ***** GURVINDER SINGH GILL, J.(Oral) The learned counsel for the petitioners submits that petitioner No.1-Neetu Kumari was married to respondent No.4-Raj Kumar but respondent No.4 was a drunkard and frequently used to give beatings to petitioner No.1 after consuming alcohol and on account of which petitioner No.1 left her matrimonial home and started residing with petitioner No.2 in 'live-in' relationship.

The learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that respondent No.4 as well as respondents No.5 and 6 have been threatening the petitioners of dire consequences in case petitioner No.1 does not start residing with respondent No.4 and that on account of the said threats, the petitioners apprehend threat to their life and liberty. Without commenting anything on the validity of relationship of the petitioners, it goes without saying that the petitioners are entitled to live safely and securely. The petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Hoshiarpur, District PANKAJ KAKKAR 2020.03.02 16:57 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

( 2 ) CRWP-2257-2020 (O&M) Hoshiarpur to look into the alleged threat perception of the petitioners and in case it is found that there is any imminent threat to the life and liberty of the petitioners, then requisite steps as warranted under law be taken so as to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioners. The petitioners would be at liberty to move a proper application to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Hoshiarpur, District Hoshiarpur in this regard.

It is, however, made clear that this order shall not be construed to be conferring any legality on the relationship of the parties and shall not confer any immunity upon the petitioners for any kind of civil or criminal liability in case it is found that they have committed any wrong. A copy of this order be sent to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Hoshiarpur, District Hoshiarpur, so as to enable him to do the needful expeditiously.
