Prayer in the instant petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, is for issuance of directions to official respondents No.2 to 4 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner, who apprehends threat to her life at the hands of private respondents No.5 and 6, who are stated to be her family members and relatives. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is a minor girl, however, despite her minority, her parents have been pressurizing her to solemnize marriage as per their own wishes. Learned counsel submits that the petitioner has been resisting attempts by her family to forcibly marry her off, and that too when she is a minor. Resultantly, a representation dated 17.02.2025 (Annexure P-1) was also made to official respondents.

At this stage, learned counsel submits that he would be satisfied if directions are issued to official respondents to look into the representation dated 17.02.2025 (Annexure P-1) and take appropriate steps POONAM RATHORE 2025.02.25 17:19 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document High Court Chandigarh

CRWP-1875-2025 -2at the earliest so that the petitioner who is a minor, is not forcibly married by the private respondents.

At the asking of the Court Mr. Mr.Amandeep Singh Samra, AAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of respondents No. 1 to 4. 5.

In view of the above, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No. 2- Commissioner of Police, Amritsar, to look into the representation dated 17.02.2025 (Annexure P-1) and take appropriate action, as may be required, in accordance with law to ensure that the life and liberty of the petitioner is not jeopardized at the hands of private respondents.
