RAJESH BHARDWAJ, J.(ORAL) Present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of writ in the nature of mandamus directing respondents no.2 to 6 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners from the hands of respondents no.7 to 10, as petitioners are living in live-in-relationship.

Learned counsel for the petitioners states that both the petitioners are major and they are living in live-in-relationship against the wishes of respondents no.7 to 10 and have sought protection to their life and liberty. They apprehend danger from respondents no.7 to 10. He submits that petitioner No.1 is married with one respondent No.8 and they have three daughters, who are with petitioner No.1 and petitioner No.2 is also married with respondent No.10 and he has also one son, who is in custody of petitioner No.2. They apprehend danger from respondents no.7 to 10 and their other relatives. The petitioners have submitted a representation dated 01.03.2023 (Annexure P-3) to respondent no.2. CRWP-2110-2023 -2Notice of motion to respondents no.1 to 4-State only. On asking of the Court, Mr.Sandeep Kumar, DAG, Punjab, who is present in Court, accepts notice on behalf of the State. Without entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on the file, I dispose of the petition with a direction to respondent no.2, i.e. Senior Superintendent of Police, Rupnagar, District Rupnagar, Punjab, to decide the representation, dated 01.03.2023 (Annexure P-3) of petitioners and grant them protection, if any threat to their life and liberty is perceived. It is clarified that this order shall not be taken to grant immunity to the petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any, committed by them. This order would not be understood having expressed any opinion whatsoever by this Court on the validity of live-inrelationship of the petitioners. Disposed of.
