% &+,- By way of this writ petition, the petitioner has prayed for issuance of a writ in the nature of certiorari to quash impugned order dated 11.9.1998 (Annexure P8) passed by Punjabi University, Patiala through its Vice Chancellor (respondent No.3) denying him the award of Honours and Gold Medal in B.E(Civil) for the year 1997. It is further prayed that a writ of mandamus be issued directing respondent No.3 give him award of Honours and Gold Medal in B.E(Civil) for the year 1997.

Mr. Vipul Jindal, Advocate, learned counsel for respondent Nos.2 and 3 on instructions states that the Gold Medal in B.E(Civil) Honours will be given to the petitioner within two weeks as the petitioner has topped in B.E(Civil) Honours examination conducted by the respondent:University and secured more than 78.3% marks against the requirement of 70% marks for Gold Medal. The concerned college has recommended the name of the petitioner for awarding Gold Medal to him. In view of the said statement, learned counsel for the petitioner does not want to press this petition. Dismissed as not pressed.
