Petitioners have filed this petition under Section 438 Cr.P.C. for grant of anticipatory bail in case FIR No.8 dated 16.01.2017 under Section 15 of the NDPS Act, registered at Police Station Lehra, District Sangrur.

Notice of motion was issued. Learned State counsel appeared and contested the petition.

I have heard learned counsel for the petitioner as well as learned State counsel and have gone through the record. From the record, I find that as per prosecution version, in the present case, a car was checked and three plastic bags, each containing 34 kgs. of poppy husk, were recovered. CRM No.M-16646 of 2017 -2fled away from the spot. The petitioners have been nominated by the coaccused Balwinder Ram and as per the statement of Ex-Sarpanch recorded under Section 161 Cr.P.C.

Keeping in view the heavy recovery in this case, I find that the petitioners are required for custodial interrogation and investigation. Therefore, finding no merit in the present petition, the same is dismissed.
