CWP-708-2000 (O&M) -1IN THE HIGH COURT OF PUNJAB AND HARYANA AT CHANDIGARH **** CWP-708-2000 (O&M) Date of Decision: 29.07.2024 Tejprit Singh ....Petitioner

Versus

State of Punjab and others ....Respondents CORAM: HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE HARSH BUNGER Present :

None for the petitioner.

Mr. Navneet Singh, Sr. DAG, Punjab.

*** HARSH BUNGER, J. (Oral) 1.

This petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India seeking issuance of writ in the nature of certiorari for quashing the order dated 20.12.1999 (Annexure P-15). A further prayer has been made seeking issuance of writ in the nature of Mandamus for directing respondents No.1 to 3 to allow the petitioner to continue as Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat.

2.

A perusal of impugned order dated 20.12.1999 (Annexure P-15) would reveal that the petitioner was suspended from the post of Sarpanch (Gram Panchayat Bhikhiwind, District Amritsar) under Section 20(3) of the Punjab Panchayati Raj Act, 1994. 3.

Learned State counsel submits that the term of the then Gram Panchayat already stands expired and the matter has thus become infructuous.

4.

Today, there is no representation on behalf of the petitioner. HIMANI GUPTA 2024.07.30 12:30 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document/judgment High Court, Chandigarh

CWP-708-2000 (O&M) -25.

It appears that the petitioner is no more interested in pursuing the present petition.

6.

In view of the above, the instant petition is dismissed for non-prosecution, however, the petitioner would be at liberty to seek revival of this Writ Petition, if any of his grievance still subsists. 7.

All pending application(s), if any, shall stand closed. 29.07.2024 (HARSH BUNGER) Himani JUDGE Whether speaking/reasoned:
