***** GURVINDER SINGH GILL, J. (Oral) The petitioners have approached this Court seeking issuance of a direction to respondents No.1 to 3 so as to protect their lives and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of private respondents No.4 to 8.

It is the case of the petitioners that they fell in love with each other and solemnized marriage on 2.3.2020 as per Hindu Rites and ceremonies against the wishes of respondents No.4 to 8. It is further stated in the petition that it is the second marriage of both the parties and that petitioner No.1 who was earlier married to one Prem Kumar had got her marriage dissolved in July, 2019 and that first wife of petitioner No.2 namely Jasvir Kaur had already expired. However no document pertaining to proof of divorce of petitioner No.1 has been annexed with the petition.

Without commenting upon the validity of the marriage of the petitioners, the petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2- Senior Superintendent of Police, Fazilka to look into the matter and to dispose of representation (Annexure P-5) expeditiously in accordance with law. In case it is found that there is any eminent threat to life and liberty of the petitioners, then requisite steps be taken so as to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioners.

A copy of this order along with copy of representation (Annexure P-5) be sent to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Fazilka, so as to enable him to do the needful expeditiously.

It is clarified that the aforesaid order is not to be treated to have conferred any kind of immunity upon the petitioners, in case it is found that they have committed any wrong.
