The present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing respondents No.2 to 4 to protect the life and liberty of petitioners at the hands of respondents No.5 to 9.

Learned counsel for the petitioners contends that petitioners want to marry each other but respondents No.5 to 9 want to marry petitioner No.1 with one Kuldeep to which she has not agreed. Respondents No.5 to 9 are hell-bent to marry petitioner No.1 with the boy of their choice and thus, she let her house and started living in live in relationship with petitioner No.2. They apprehend danger at the hand of respondents No.5 to 9 and in this regard, they have submitted a representation dated 29.02.2024 (Annexure P-4) to respondent No.2 but no action has been taken so far.

Without commenting on the validity of relationship of the petitioners and entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on the file, I dispose of this petition with direction to respondent No.2 to decide the representation of the petitioners (Annexure P-4) within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order and grant them protection, if there is any threat to their life and liberty. It is made clear that this order shall not be taken to protect the petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any committed by them.
