(Oral) The petitioners namely Jagat Singh Dhalla aged 46 years and Jaspreet aged 42 years, have approached this Court seeking issuance of a direction to respondents No.2 and 3, to protect their life and liberty as the petitioners who are living in a 'live-in relationship' apprehend threat to the same at the hands of respondents No.4 to 6, who do not approve of their relationship.

While petitioner No.1 was married to respondent No.4 and the marriage is still subsisting though a petition under Section 13 of Hindu Marriage Act, seeking dissolution of marriage is still pending. Though, learned counsel representing the petitioners submits that petitioner No.2 who was also previously married has got her marriage dissolved by decree of divorce, but no such decree is forthcoming.

Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and while refraining from making any expression as regards the veracity of the MOHAN SINGH 2022.03.28 17:23 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

- 2 - CRWP-2767-2022 (O&M) averments made in the petition, the petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 i.e. Superintendent of Police, Sri Muktsar Sahib, to get representation dated 21.3.2022 (Annexure P-3) examined as regards the alleged threat perception of the petitioners and to take necessary action as may be warranted under the facts and circumstances of the case. A copy of this order alongwith copy of the representation dated 21.3.2022 be sent to Superintendent of Police, Sri Muktsar Sahib (respondent No.2), so as to enable him to do the needful expeditiously. It is, however, clarified that the aforesaid order is not to be taken as any kind of expression as regards the relationship of the parties.
