SURINDER GUPTA, J.(Oral) Learned counsel for petitioners submits that petitioners have filed this petition seeking protection of their life and liberty alleging that petitioner No.1- Charanjit Kaur, who is major, has married petitioner No.2Gurpreet Singh, who is below 21 years of age, against the wishes of respondents No. 4 to 7, who are parents, brother and other relative of petitioner No. 1. Apprehending danger to their lives and liberty, they moved representation dated 16.05.2017 (Annexure P-5) to Senior Superintendent of Police, Gurdaspur. He confines the relief claimed in this petition for direction to respondent No. 2 to look into the representation of petitioners and take appropriate action in accordance with law.
In view of the submission of learned counsel for the petitioners, but without expressing any opinion on the validity of marriage of petitioners, petition is disposed of with direction to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Gurdaspur to look into the representation dated Jyoti 2017.05.
CRM-M-17885-2017 -216.05.2017 (Annexure P-5) and take appropriate action in accordance with law, on receipt of copy of this order along with representation in his office. However, it is made clear that this order will have no effect on the validity of alleged marriage of the petitioners or on any other civil or criminal proceedings instituted or intended against them under any law including the provisions of Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006.
