The present petition has been filed seeking quashing of FIR No. 21 dated 17.03.2015 registered under Sections 498-A and 506 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, registered at Police Station Gidder Baha, District Muktsar (Annexure P-1) and all subsequent proceedings arising out therefrom qua the petitioner.

Learned counsel for the petitioner has argued that there is no specific allegation against the present petitioner and she has been entangled only being the mother-in-law of the complainant. Learned counsel for the petitioner further submits that 17 years old marriage has now gone into rough weather and vague and evasive allegations have been levelled. 3.

Per contra, learned State counsel, assisted by learned counsel for the complainant, submits that the cause of action is recurring in nature owing to the continuous acts and conduct of the petitioner (mother-in-law), PARUL 2025.11.04 10:56 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document

CRM-M-18926-2016 (O&M) who played a pivotal role in the commission of the alleged offence. It is further submitted that the petitioner on earlier occasion had also tendered an apology and admitted her guilt at the time when compromise was effected between the parties, and all these aspects are required to be examined by the trial Court during the course of trial.

In light of the above, this Court does not find any ground to interfere in the present petition, as the role of the petitioner appears to be pivotal, particularly when she was residing in the shared household with the complainant. Accordingly, the present FIR cannot be quashed, and the present petition stands dismissed.
