The petitioner has preferred this Writ Petition seeking quashing of the orders dated 19.07.1990, 26.09.1991 and 23.04.1996 (Annexures P-5, P-6 and P-8 respectively) passed by the respondents whereby the petitioner was denied promotion to the post of Forest Ranger and Range Officer w.e.f. 06.01.1978.

The petitioner in the Writ Petition has stated that he could not be promoted on the post of Forest Ranger as the channel for promotion to the post of Forest Ranger is from the post of Deputy Ranger and not from the post of Forest Ranger, which he was holding. The petitioner was further promoted as Deputy Ranger w.e.f. 06.01.1978. The petitioner has claimed that as the post of Forest Ranger was available at that reserved point for Scheduled Caste, he should have been promoted as a Forest Ranger. 3.

was no post earmarked for the reserved category. The petitioner was promoted as a Deputy Ranger on 06.01.1978 and was confirmed in the year 1982. Therefore, he would become eligible only after 1982 for further promotion. In view thereof, the respondents have prayed for dismissal of this Writ Petition.

The petitioner has not submitted any rejoinder to the reply filed by the respondents.

Keeping in view the aforesaid facts, this Court finds that the relief of granting benefit of promotion to the petitioner directly on the post of Range Officer is wholly misconceived. Accordingly the Writ Petition stands dismissed.

All the pending applications in this Writ Petition stand disposed of accordingly.
