% &'( This appeal under Section 173 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 is filed by the insurance company challenging the award of the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal dated 12.03.1996 awarding compensation to the tune Rs.50,000/6 to the claimants6respondents along with interest at the rate of 12% per annum on account of injuries sustained in the road accident. Concededly the amount of compensation has already been paid to the respondents by the insurance company and the appeal is pending for the last 23 years. Even the appellant has failed to serve the respondents No.2 and 3. Once the amount has been paid and in our considered opinion no useful purpose would be served to proceed in the matter any further for paltry sum which already stands paid.
