By way of present petition filed under Articles 226/227 of Constitution of India, prayer has been made for issuance of direction to respondents No.1 and 2 to protect life and liberty of petitioners from the hands of respondents no.4 and 5.

At the outset, learned counsel for the petitioners submits that instead of pressing the present petition on merits, his clients would be satisfied in case direction is issued to the respondents to decide the representation (Annexure P-1) moved at the instance of petitioners by passing a speaking order expeditiously.

Prayer seems to be justified.

In view of the agreed stand taken by both sides, but without going into the merits of the controversy, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Rural Jalandhar, Jalandhar to look into the representation (Annexure P1) and take appropriate action in accordance with law by passing a speaking order preferably within a period of 04 (four) weeks from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order. 6.
The aforesaid direction shall not be construed as an expression of opinion on the merits of the averments made in the representation.
