This is a petition that has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus, directing the official respondents to count the daily wage service of the petitioners as Special Police Officer rendered before their regularization as qualifying service four the purpose of pensionary benefits in view of the judgments rendered by this Court in CWP No.9936 of 2017 titled as Sukhjeet Singh and others Vs. State of Punjab and others decided on 15.02.2018 and in CWP No.7127 of 2019 titled as Jarnail Singh and others Vs. State of Punjab and others decided on 01.04.2019 and further directing the respondents to consider their claim for granting the ASI Local Rank in view of letter/circular dated 23.01.2020. In this regard, a legal notice dated 08.12.2021 (Annexure P-12) has been given by the petitioners to the official respondents but till date no decision has been taken thereon. 2.

Without commenting on merits of the case, I dispose of the instant petition by directing the official respondents to take a decision on the legal notice dated 08.12.2021 (Annexure P-12) of the petitioners in accordance with law within a period of two months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order, failing which the officer responsible for the lapse would be liable to deposit costs of Rs.20,000/- from his personal pocket with the Punjab and Haryana High Court Advocates Welfare Fund.
