The petitioner has approached this Court seeking issuance of directions to respondents No.2 and 3 to protect his life and liberty as he apprehends threat to the same at the hands of respondents No.4 to 7. 2.

It is the case of petitioner that he is working in NREGA Department, where respondent No.6-Soni is also working and they developed affinity for each other and had been having a love affair since the last 4-5 years. It is further the case of the petitioner that although respondent No.6 was married to one Mulakh Raj about 10-11 years back, but she was having a matrimonial dispute with her husband and in the year 2017 she stated that she has got divorce from her husband. However, when the petitioner went up to the parents of respondent No.6, on the asking of respondent No.6, with a PANKAJ KAKKAR 2021.04.01 18:10 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

( 2 ) CRWP-3168-2021 (O&M) proposal to marry her, the same was turned down by respondents No.4, 5 and 7 and he was threatened with dire consequences. It is thus alleged that the private respondents in connivance with the local police are bent upon causing harm to him and may implicate him in some false case of rape etc. 3.

Keeping in view the averments made in the petitioner but without commenting anything as regards the veracity of the said averments, the petition is disposed off with a direction to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Ferozepur, District Ferozepur to get the representation dated 9.3.2021 (Annexure P-2) examined as regards the alleged threat perception of the petitioner. In case, it is found that there is any genuine threat to the life and liberty of the petitioner, then necessary steps as warranted under law be taken thereupon at the earliest so as to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioner.

It is, however, clarified that the aforesaid order shall not be construed to confer any immunity upon the petitioner, in case it is found that he has committed any wrong.
