(Oral) The petitioners have approached this Court seeking protection of their life and liberty on the premise that petitioner No.1 has performed marriage with petitioner No.2 against the wishes of her parents and other family members and the petitioners are apprehending threat to their life and liberty at their instance. Notice of motion.

Ms. Samina Dhir, DAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the respondent - State while Mr. Amit Parashar, Advocate has appeared on behalf of respondents No.4 to 6.

Since, respondents No.4 to 6 have appeared through their counsel before this Court, the matter has been referred to the Mediation and Conciliation Centre of this Court where the Mediator has held a meeting with the parties jointly and separately but no settlement could be arrived at between them.

CRM-M No.20479 of 2018 Learned counsel for the petitioners, at this stage, has submitted that a representation dated 10.05.2018 was made to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Tarn Taran (Annexure P5) seeking necessary protection but no action has been taken so far in the matter. Heard.

Without examining the question of validity or otherwise of marriage of the petitioners, the present petition stands disposed of with a direction to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Tarn Taran to look into grievance of the petitioners expressed in the representation (Annexure P5) and take appropriate action, if any, warranted in the circumstances.
