This is a petition that has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus, directing the official respondents to release the amount of CPF contribution made by the petitioners along with interest accrued thereon, as has been released to similarly situated employees in judgment rendered by this Court in CWP No.2503 of 2020 titled as Avtar Singh Vs. State of Punjab and others decided on 30.01.2020 and in CWP No.3169 of 2020 titled as Karan Singh and others Vs. State of Punjab and others decided on 06.02.2020. In this regard, a legal notice dated 11.10.2021 (Annexure P-6) has been given by the petitioners to the respondents but till date no decision has been taken thereon.

Without commenting on merits of the case, I dispose of the instant petition by directing the official respondents to take a decision on the legal notice dated 11.10.2021 (Annexure P-6) of the petitioners in accordance with law within a period of two months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order, failing which the officer responsible for the lapse would be liable to deposit costs of Rs.20,000/- from his personal pocket with the Punjab and Haryana High Court Advocates Welfare Fund.
