TA No. 232 of 2019 -1IN THE HIGH COURT OF PUNJAB & HARYANA AT CHANDIGARH TA No. 232 of 2019 (O&M) Date of decision : 2.11.2019 ...

Preety Verma ................Applicant vs.

Ravi Bhardwaj .................Respondent Coram: Hon'ble Mr. Justice H. S. Madaan Present: Mr. Swapan Shorey, Advocate for the applicant. ...

H. S. Madaan, J. (Oral) Applicant- Preety Verma aged about 37 years, estranged wife of Ravi Bhardwaj-respondent, seeks transfer of divorce petition filed by her against her husband, titled as 'Preety Verma vs. Ravi Bhardwaj', pending in the Court of District Judge, Patiala, to a Court of competent jurisdiction at SAS Nagar, Mohali. It is contended on behalf of the applicant that the applicant, who is in Government service has since been transferred from Patiala to Mohali and is putting up there. Therefore, the application be accepted.

Notice of the application was given to the respondent, who was duly served but has not put in appearance. I have heard learned counsel for the applicant. BANITA CHUGH 2019.11.04 09:43 I am the author of this document

TA No. 232 of 2019 -2The applicant herself having filed a divorce petition in Court of competent jurisdiction at Patiala, simply for the reason that she has been transferred to Mohali now, is no ground to transfer the petition from the Court at Patiala to Mohali. The petition cannot be transferred in such a manner just at the asking of the applicant for the reason that she has been transferred from one place of posting to the other.

Finding no merit in the application the same stands dismissed.
