The petitioners through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India are seeking issuance of writ of quowarranto/certiorari declaring/quashing appointment of respondent No.5 as Director, Horticulture Department, Punjab.

The petitioners are questioning appointment of Smt. Shalender Kaur, IFS-respondent No.5 as Director, Horticulture Department, Punjab. The petitioners are claiming themselves to be public spirited persons. They are claiming that they are working for the redressal of farmers' grievances and problems. Respondent No.5 is member of Indian Forest Services and has been wrongly/illegally deputed as Director, Horticulture Department.

Learned Senior Counsel for the petitioners submits that respondent vide order dated 26.02.2026 has shifted respondent No.5 from the post of Director, Horticulture Department to Director, Environment & Climate Change, thus, petition qua main prayer has rendered infructuous. 4.

On being asked his locus to prefer instant petition, he seeks permission to withdraw with liberty to avail remedies in accordance with law.
