The petitioner has been in custody w.e.f. 20.8.2013 in a case of recovery of 200 grams of powder containing diphenoxylate salt. Learned State counsel, on the instructions of ASI Harjinder Singh, informs that 2 witnesses out of 5 stand examined. Taking into consideration the period of detention suffered by the petitioner; the recovery effected and the stage of the trial, I deem it appropriate to dispose of this petition with a direction that in case the trial is not concluded within a period of two months after the next date of hearing fixed before the trial court, the trial court shall release the petitioner on bail on his furnishing bail bonds/ surety bonds to its satisfaction.
