(ORAL) Learned counsel for the petitioner argued that after the respondents revised the seniority list of the Cadre of Inspector (Annexure P-2), certain promotions were effected vide Annexure P-3 dated 30.07.2021 to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (District Cadre) w.e.f. 29.09.2011 but, the personnel, who were junior to the petitioner, have been given promotion but the claim of the petitioner for promotion as Deputy Superintendent of Police has not been considered by the respondents. The prayer of the petitioner in the present petition is for issuance of a direction to the respondents to grant him the benefit of promotion to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police with effect from the date of his juniors were promoted.

Learned counsel for the petitioner further submits that the said grievance has already been raised in the representation dated 20.09.2021 ANJU 2022.04.05 11:31 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document Chandigarh

CWP-6757-2022 (Annexure P-4) which is still pending consideration with the respondents and the petitioner will be satisfied, at this stage in case a time bound direction is given to the respondents to decide the said legal notice by passing an appropriate speaking order.

On asking of the Court, Mr. Navdeep Chhabra, DAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the respondents.

Learned counsel for the respondents raises no objection in decision of the representation 20.09.2021 (Annexure P-4) in a time bound manner by passing an appropriate speaking order. Without commenting upon the merits of the case or about the entitlement of the petitioner for the relief which has been claimed by him in the representation 20.09.2021 (Annexure P-4), the present writ petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 to decide the representation dated 20.09.2021 (Annexure P-4) within a period of eight weeks from the receipt of copy of this order.
