By this order, two protection petitions, i.e. CRWP No. 2499 of 2023 and CRWP No. 2607 of 2023, filed by petitioners, namely, Subas Singh @ Subhash Singh and Mohammad Urfan, respectively, are being decided together.

In compliance of the order dated 20.03.2023 passed, learned State counsel has filed the status reports dated 18.05.2023 in both the petitions. Same are taken on record. Registry is directed to tag the same at appropriate place.

In fact, CRWP No. 2499 of 2023 was filed by petitioner- Subas Singh @ Subhash Singh, who is the contractor, seeking protection of his life and liberty, which is stated to be at risk at the hands of respondent No. 4-

CRWP No. 2499 of 2023 and -2Shambhu Singh, respondent No. 5- Banti Singh and respondent No. 6Arvind Kumar Munshi. 4.

By way of filing of another petition i.e. CRWP No. 2607 of 2023, petitioner- Mohammad Urfan also sought protection of his life and liberty, which is stated to be at risk at the hands of same respondents i.e. respondent No. 4-Shambhu Singh, respondent No. 5- Banti Singh and respondent No. 6- Arvind Kumar Munshi.

Thus, both the petitioners have filed the aforementioned petitions, feeling aggrieved with the action of private respondents No. 4 to 6 in both petitions.

Mr. J. S. Arora, DAG, Punjab, refers to paragraph No. 4 of the said status report(s), which are verbatim same, in both the petitions and states that already one FIR No. 68 dated 12.05.2023 under Sections 323, 341, 342, 506 and 34 IPC has been registered at Police Station Focal Point, Ludhiana, Punjab against aforementioned private respondents No. 4 to 6. Said paragraph No. 4 of the said status report says as under:- "4 That in the present writ petition the petitioners has sought that direction be issued to the private respondents not to harss him and his work force to discharge their lawful obligation and further to protect his life and liberty, in this regard, it is respectfully submitted that in his complaints annexed hereto as Annexure P-1 and P-2, the petitioner had also mentioned about giving beatings to his worker namely Mohammad Urfan, who has also filed a separate writ petition bearing CRWP-2607/2023 and the police had already registered FIR bearing No. 68

CRWP No. 2499 of 2023 and -3dated 12.05.2023 under Sections 323, 341, 342, 506 and 34 IPC, Police Station Focal Point, Ludhiana against aforementioned private respondents No. 4 to 6 based upon his medical and statement dated 12.05.2023. It is pertinent to mention here that investigation regarding the same is still going on.,"

Being satisfied with the action taken by the State of Punjab, that FIR No. 68 dated 12.05.2023 under Sections 323, 341, 342, 506 and 34 IPC has already been registered at Police Station Focal Point, Ludhiana, against aforementioned private respondents No. 4 to 6, learned counsel for the petitioner(s) seeks withdrawal of both the petitions. 8.

Accordingly, both petitions i.e. CRWP No. 2499 of 2023 and CRWP No. 2607 of 2023 stand disposed of having been withdrawn. (SANJAY VASHISTH) JUDGE 18.05.2023 Riya Whether speaking/reasoned:
