Learned counsel for the petitioner confines the relief claimed in this petition only to the extent that the Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana may be directed to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner and his family members from the hands of private respondents. In view of limited prayer made by learned counsel for the petitioner, this petition is disposed of without issuing notice to the respondents with direction to respondent No.2-Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana to look into the grievance of the petitioner relating to threat to his life and liberty and to take appropriate action in accordance with law. However, it is made clear that nothing contained in this order shall be interpreted as giving protection to the petitioner against any legal action taken in any civil, criminal or other proceedings instituted/initiated/pending against him.
