The petitioners through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India are seeking directions to the respondents to grant seniority from the date their juniors have been assigned constabulary number and count their service for other service benefits.

Mr. Dhir, State counsel, at the outset, submits that service period of petitioners as SPO stands included in the total service for retiral and other service benefits, however, they cannot be granted seniority either from the date of joining as SPO or from the date any of their junior has been appointed as Constable.
