***** SANJEEV PRAKASH SHARMA, J (ORAL) By this common order, two petitions bearing CWP-7245-2001 and CWP-7320-2001, the details of which have been given in the heading, are being decided.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the present petition is off-suit proceedings which were taken up in the Civil Appeal No.3630 of 2011 and the Hon'ble Apex Court passed the following order:- DINESH BANSAL 2023.09.01 18:22 I attest to the accuracy of this order Chandigarh

Learned counsel for the first respondent states that respondent No.1, who is the contesting respondent, expired on 06.07.2020 and this information is available with the appellants. It is also stated by learned counsel that respondent No.1 was paid his salaries and wages by the parent department, namely, Training School, Civil Hospital, Sangrur, Punjab. No arrears are due and payable. Therefore, nothing survives in the present appeal and questions raised are of academic interest. The appeal is disposed of as abated, reserving and giving liberty to the appellants to take steps for setting aside the abatement etc, if required and necessary.

Pending application(s), if any, stand disposed of." In view of above, since the petitioner has expired, similar order is passed in the present writ petitions.
