Petitioners approached this Court by way of instant writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus, directing respondents to grant Local Rank as ASI/LR to the petitioners, as has been granted by the respondents vide order dated 27.04.2020 to similarly situated persons. In this regard, petitioners have submitted representation dated 17.08.2021 (Annexure P-3) and legal notice dated 15.02.2022 (Annexure P-4), however, no action has been taken thereon by the respondents.
Counsel for the petitioners would submit that the petitioners would be satisfied if the representation dated 17.08.2021 (Annexure P-3) and legal notice dated 15.02.2022 (Annexure P-4) submitted by them are considered and decided by respondent No.2 in a time bound manner, in terms of order dated 27.04.2020 (Annexure P-2). 3.

Mr. Pawan Sharda, Sr. DAG, Punjab, who is present in Court, accepts notice for the respondents and submits that respondent No.2 will look into the matter and take a decision in accordance with law. Let sufficient number of copies of the complete paper book be supplied the counsel appearing for the respondents during the course of day. 5.
Without commenting on merits of the case, I dispose of the instant petition by directing respondent No.2 to consider the representation dated 17.08.2021 (Annexure P-3) and legal notice dated 15.02.2022 (Annexure P-4) submitted on behalf of the petitioners and take a decision thereon, in terms of order dated 27.04.2020 (Annexure P-2) within a period of three months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order, failing which the officer responsible for the lapse would be liable to deposit costs of Rs.20,000/- from his personal pocket with the Punjab and Haryana High Court Advocates Welfare Fund.
