The present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing respondents No.2 & 3 to ensure the protection of life and liberty of the petitioner at the hands of respondents No.4 to 7.

Learned counsel for the petitioner inter alia contends that marriage of the petitioner was solemnized with respondent No.6 on 18.01.2007 and out of the wedlock, two daughters namely Rahmeet Kaur and Anureet Kaur were born. Respondent No.6 is of quarrelsome nature and in connivance with respondents No.4 and 5, she caused mental agony to the petitioner. The petitioner started doing job at Goraya in a private bank where he met with Sapanjot Kaur, who is also married to one Sukhjinder Singh. They like each other and want to marry after giving divorce to their respective spouse. After knowing about the relationship of the petitioner with Sapanjot Kaur, respondents No.4 to 7 are threatening the petitioner to kill him and Sapanjot Kaur. CRWP No.2417 of 2024 that both the petitioner and Sapanjot Kaur have already filed divorce petitions against their respective spouse. The petitioner is getting continuous threats from respondent No.4 to 7 and in this regard, he has given a representation dated 20.02.2024 (Annexure P-3) to respondent No.2 but no action has been taken thereon.

Notice of motion to the official respondents only. 4.
On the asking of the Court, Mr. Subhash Godara, Addl. A.G., Punjab, who is present in Court, accepts notice for the official respondents and submits that the representation dated 20.02.2024 (Annexure P-3) will be looked into by respondent No.2 and an action will be taken thereon in accordance with law. Learned counsel for the petitioner is directed to supply a copy of complete paper book to the learned State counsel during the course of the day. 5.
In view of the above, without going into merits of the case, I dispose of this petition with a direction to respondent No.2 to look into the representation dated 20.02.2024 (Annexure P-3) given by the petitioner and take a decision thereon in accordance with law within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.
