CRM-M-21298-2017 -2CRM-M-21298-2017 This is a petition has been filed under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure seeking a direction to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner herein at the hands of the private respondent Nos. 4 & 5 and the newly added respondent No.6 & 7.

Learned counsel for the petitioner argues that the petitioner is aged 81 years and is being harassed at the hands of respondent No.4 & 5 who are daughter and son-in-law as well as the tenant that has been inducted. It is contended that every attempt is being made by them to dispossess her from the premises in which she is residing.

Learned counsel for the petitioner relies upon the Maintenance and Welfare of Senior Citizens Act, 2017 and the rules framed thereunder, wherein in Rule 20 it is specifically stated that the District Superintendent of Police shall take all necessary steps for the protection of life and property of senior Citizens.

Mr. J.S.Toor, learned Addl. P.P. appearing on behalf of the U.T. Chandigarh very fairly contends that all necessary protection would be provided to the petitioner by deputing a Beat Police personnel to visit the premises on a weekly basis and also as and when called upon.
