Petitioner No.1-Mitlesh aged 29 years and petitioner No.2-Radhika aged 32 years, who are in a 'live-in' relationship, have approached this Court seeking issuance of a direction to official respondents to protect their lives and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of respondents No.4 to 7, who are relatives of petitioner No.2 and do not approve of their residing together.

While petitioner No.1-Mitlesh is unmarried, petitioner No.2-Radhika is married to respondent No.4-Kartik Sapre but no child was born from the said wedlock. It is the case of petitioners that petitioner No.2 used to be tortured by her husband i.e. respondent No.4, who is a drunkard, and on account of PANKAJ KAKKAR 2022.04.04 16:26 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document

( 2 ) CRWP-3062-2022 (O&M) which petitioner No.2 was constrained to leave her matrimonial home and is presently residing with petitioner No.1 in a 'live-in' relationship. 3.

Without commenting as regards the veracity of the averments made in the petition and also as regards the sanctity of alleged relationship of the petitioners, the petition is disposed off with a direction to respondent No.2Senior Superintendent of Police, District Fazilka to look into the matter and to dispose of the representation dated 30.3.2022 (Annexure P-3) in accordance with law. In case, it is found that there is a genuine threat to the lives and liberty of the petitioners, then necessary steps warranted under law be taken thereupon at the earliest so as to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioners.

A copy of this order alongwith copy of the representation dated 30.3.2022 (Annexure P-3) be sent to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, District Fazilka so as to enable him to do the needful expeditiously. 5.

It is, however, clarified that the aforesaid order shall not be taken to be any expression as regards the alleged relationship of the petitioners and shall not confer any immunity upon the petitioners, in case it is found that they have committed any wrong.
