Prayer in the present writ petition is for issuance of a writ in the nature of Mandamus directing the respondents to grant the petitioner's pension and other retiral benefits alongwith interest at the rate of 18% per annum with all consequential benefits.

Ms. Monica Chhibber, on instructions from Mr. Kishore Luthra, Dy. Registrar, I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, present in Court, states that the amount of Rs.5 crores shall be released to respondent No.2 within a period of one month.

Short reply by way of affidavit of Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh, Registrar, Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Punjab Technical University, Bathinda on behalf of respondent No.2 has been filed, in para 4 whereof, it has been stated that CWPPUSHPINDER SAINI 2024.02.21 23:12 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

He on instructions from Registrar, present in person, states that in view of the statement made on behalf of IKGPTU, the arrears on account of the pension payable to the petitioner with consequential benefits shall be released within a period of three months alongwith interest @ 6% per annum.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that in view of the statements made by the respondents, the present petition may be disposed of reserving with the petitioner a liberty to get it revived, in case need arises. 5.
