The petitioner through instant petition under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to respondent to release his payment of Rs.4,36,482/- along with interest @ 18% per annum. It is further seeking directions to respondents to decide its legal notice dated 11.07.2025.

The petitioner is a Government contractor and has executed various work assigned to it by respondent from time to time. Petitioner has completed all the works allotted to it within stipulated period, however, not even a single penny towards the bills has been released. Petitioner unsuccessfully served legal notice dated 11.07.2025 upon the respondent.

Learned State counsel submits that admitted liability would be discharged within four months from today.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that respondent may be subjected to interest @ 6% per annum from the date of passing bills.

In the wake of statement of State counsel, the petition stands disposed of with direction to release admitted liability within four months from today along with interest @ 6% per annum from the date of passing bills. It is made clear that if payment is not released within aforesaid period, the rate of interest would be 9% from the expiry of said period. 6.
