Prayer in the instant petition, filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India, is for issuance of directions to the official respondents to provide protection of life and liberty to the petitioners from private respondents.
Briefly, the facts of the case are that petitioner no.1 is a married lady, who is presently living with petitioner no.2 in live-in relationship, out of her own sweet will. Both these petitioners filed the present petition apprehending danger to their lives and liberty at the hands of private respondents no.4 (husband of petitioner no.1), 5 and 6 (brothers of petitioner no.1).
On the last date of hearing, while issuing notice of motion, learned State counsel was directed to file reply and in the meanwhile, respondent MONIKA 2025.05.14 16:40 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document
CRWP-2177-2025 no.2 was directed to look into the matter.
Reply by way of affidavit of Tejinder Pal Singh, PPS, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Abohar (Rural), District Fazilka has been filed on behalf of respondents no.1 to 3, which is taken on record. From perusal of said reply, it transpires that both the petitioners as well as private respondents have got recorded their statements before the police that at present, both the petitioners have no danger at the hands of private respondents. Vernacular as well as translated copies of statements recorded by the police have also been annexed with the reply. In view of the peculiar circumstances of the case, the present petition has been rendered infructuous and is accordingly disposed of as such.
