By virtue of filing the instant petition under Article 226 of the Constitution, petitioner seeks a writ of mandamus directing respondent Nos.2 to 4 to protect his life and liberty at the hands of respondent No.5, who is his cousin brother.

The limited prayer made by learned counsel for the petitioner is for issuance of directions to the official respondents to decide the representation dated 11.02.2026 (Annexure P.1) submitted by the petitioner, in a time bound manner. 3.

On the asking of the Court, Mr. Gautam Thapar, Sr. DAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State and has no objection in deciding the complaint filed on behalf of the petitioner. 6.

Without commenting upon the merits of the case and in view of the limited prayer made by learned counsel for the petitioner, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.3 to look into the matter and decide the representation dated 11.02.2026 (Annexure P.1) as expeditiously as possible, in accordance with law.
