Case has been heard through video conferencing on account of COVID-19 Pandemic.

CRM-W-699-2021 Notice of the application.

Mr. Prabjot Singh Walia, AAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State and pleaded no objection in case main petition is preponed. Even otherwise the case is involving lives and liberty of the petitioners.

( 2 ) CRWP-3480-2021 (O&M) In the light of above, the application is allowed and main petition is ordered to be preponed from 10.9.2021 and the same is taken on board today itself.

Main Petition Petitioners allege that both of them are major and they got married on 3.4.2021 against the wishes of respondent No.4 to 10 who are related to petitioner No.1. Counsel for the petitioners submits that the aforesaid private respondents have threatened to cause harm to both the petitioners and in this regard, representation (Annexure P-4) was given on 3.4.2021 to respondent No.2 but till date no action has been taken by the concerned authority in this regard.

Notice of motion.

Mr. Prabjot Singh Walia, AAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the State of Punjab. He submits that the concerned authority will look into the matter and take decision on the representation of the petitioners in accordance with law.

In view of above, without going into merits of the case, this petition is hereby disposed of with direction to respondent No.2 to consider representation, if any, filed by the petitioners and to provide appropriate protection to the petitioners if so warranted. However, any observations made in this order will not be construed as an expression of opinion on the validity of the marriage of the petitioners.
