This is a petition that has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus, directing the respondents to count services of the petitioner as Special Police Officer on daily wages as qualifying service for the purpose of pensionary/retiral benefits, as similarly situated persons have been granted the same benefits in the judgments rendered by this Court in CWP No.9936 of 2017 titled as Sukhjeet Singh and others Vs. State of Punjab and others decided on 15.02.2018 and in CWP No.7127 of 2019 titled as Jarnail Singh and others Vs. State of Punjab and others decided on 01.04.2019. In this regard, a representation dated 15.02.2022 (Annexure P-11) has been given by the petitioner to the official respondents but till date no decision has been taken thereon.

Without commenting on merits of the case, I dispose of the instant petition by directing the respondents to take a decision on the representation dated 15.02.2022 (Annexure P-11) of the petitioner in accordance with law within a period of two months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order and convey the decision to the petitioner, failing which the officer responsible for the lapse would be liable to deposit costs of Rs.20,000/- from his personal pocket with the Punjab and Haryana High Court Advocates Welfare Fund.
