JUSTICE AMARJOT BHATTI The brief facts of the case are that complainant-Nidhi filed a written complaint to the police against her husband-Sahil Bedi and in-laws family for maltreatment given to her in the matrimonial home. She stated that she got married with Sahil Bedi on 27.02.2017. She gave birth to a son. Soon after her marriage, she was maltreated in the matrimonial home on
account of less dowry. Her widow mother had spent huge amount on her marriage, even then her husband and in-laws family were unhappy. Her brother-in-law was keeping bad eye on her. They leveled false allegations and gave beatings to her. She was physically and mentally tortured. Her husband demanded Rs.50 thousand for installation of new Air Conditioner in the house. Her mother arranged this amount with great difficulty. The matter was compromised and she was taken back in the matrimonial home. However, her husband and in-laws family repeated their previous behavior. On one occasion she was beaten up and the police was also called. Her husband started leveling false against her. The police also started leveling false allegations against her mother and other family members. Ultimately, she was turned out of the matrimonial home. After enquiry, the present FIR was registered.
