The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to respondent No. 3 to re-issue him passport with correct father's name.

The petitioner was issued passport on 26.03.2012 which expired on 25.03.2022. He applied for re-issuance of passport on 15.02.2024. In the said application, he pointed out that name of his father in the previous passport has been wrongly recorded as 'Bachana Ram' whereas it is 'Bachana Ram Bansal' meaning thereby surname of his father has not been recorded.

amendment and thereafter issued passport. Father of the petitioner had passed away in 2016.

Notice of motion.

Ms. Shreyansi Verma, Central Government Counsel for Union of India, who on advance notice is present in Court, accepts notice and waives service. She submits that petitioner may be directed to appear before the passport authority alongwith requisite documents disclosing complete name of his father and the passport authority, thereafter, would look into grievance of the petitioner and dispose of his application within six weeks. 6.

Learned counsel for the petitioner agrees to the aforesaid arrangement.

In the wake of statement of both sides, the petition stands disposed of with a direction to petitioner to appear before the passport authority on 15.04.2024 alongwith requisite documents. On doing so, the passport authority would pass an appropriate order within six weeks from 15.04.2024.
