The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to Senior Superintendent of Police, SAS Nagar Mohali to send police verification report to the Regional Passport Officer, Shimla.

The petitioner has made multiple prayers, however, he confines his prayer to the effect that Senior Superintendent of Police, SAS Nagar Mohali may be directed to complete police verification and send his report to the Regional Passport Officer, Shimla.

Ms. Shweta Nahata, Senior Panel Counsel for Union of India and Mr. Aman Dhir, DAG, Punjab, who on advance notice are present in Court, accept notice and waive service.

Mr. Aman Dhir, State counsel, on instructions submits that matter is under consideration. The delay has occurred because petitioner is a permanent resident of Amritsar whereas he has disclosed his present address of SAS Nagar Mohali. FIR is also pending at Amritsar. 6.
To resolve the issue, the Senior Superintendent of Police, SAS Nagar Mohali is directed to collect information from Police Commissioner, Amritsar and thereafter send his report within four weeks from today to the Regional Passport Officer, Shimla.
