SUVIR SEHGAL, J. (Oral) The Court has been convened through video conferencing due to Covid-19 pandemic.

Complaint received from the petitioner by post has taken up on the judicial side and ordered to be treated as Criminal Writ Petition. The allegation is that Muskan wife of Mohit Kumar @ Chabi has been illegally detained by the police officials of Police Station D-Division, Amritsar. In response to the notice issued to the State of Punjab, an affidavit of Inspector-SHO of Police Station D-Division, Amritsar has been filed, wherein, in para 10 thereof, it has been deposed as under:- "Muskan (alleged detenue) was neither detained nor has been implicated in any case. The petitioner in connivance with her son-accused Mohit Kumar @ Chabbi has filed the present petition with ulterior motive and malafide intention to create SAVITA KADIAN 2021.08.20 17:13 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document High Court Chandigarh

CRWP No.2921 of 2020 {2} undue pressure on the local police in order to abstain it from making efforts for arrest of the accused Mohit Kumar @ Chabbi, who has been arrested on 10.05.2020 in the aforesaid case/FIR No.116, dated 27.11.2019, under Section 379-B IPC, has been registered at Police Station D-Division, Amritsar City and the stolen ornaments have been recovered from his possession is absconding. All the allegations levelled in the present petition are false, frivolous and baseless just to hamper the investigation of the aforesaid case. Therefore, the present petition is liable to be dismissed."

In view of the above affidavit, it cannot be said that the detenue is in illegal confinement. No order is called for. The petition is dismissed.
