(ORAL) All the petitioners have joined hands to prefer the present writ petition for seeking the relief of the issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to step-up their pay at par with respondent No.5 and to grant them the arrears of pay as well as other consequential benefits along-with interest thereon @ 12% per annum and they have further prayed that the respondents be also directed to decide their legal notice dated 20.01.2021 (Annexure P-9), while averring that respondent No.5 happens to be junior to them in service and therefore, they are entitled to the stepping up of their pay at par with the said respondent and though, they served the said legal notice to the respondents for seeking the afore-claimed benefit but the same has not yet been decided.

Mr. Pawan Sharda, Senior Deputy Advocate General, Punjab, has joined the proceedings on behalf of respondents No.1 to 4 in this case, in pursuance of the copies of this petition having been sent to the respondent-State in advance.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the petitioners would be satisfied in case a direction is issued to respondent No.2 to look into and deal with/decide their said legal notice (Annexure P-9), within some specific time-frame.

Learned State counsel has no objection for the same. Keeping in view the above-discussed limited prayer of learned counsel for the petitioners and without commenting upon the merits of the matter in hand, the instant writ petition is hereby disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Director General of Police, Punjab, to look into and deal with/decide the said legal notice of the petitioners (Annexure P-9) in accordance with the law/relevant Rules, by passing a speaking order thereon, within a period of three months from the date of receipt of the certified copy of this order.
