The petitioner has approached this Court seeking grant of anticipatory bail in respect of a case registered vide FIR No.8 dated 4.1.2020 at Police Station City-II, Malerkotla, District Sangrur under Sections 323, 379-B, 452 and 149 of Indian Penal Code.

The FIR in question was lodged by Shahida Parveen, step mother of the petitioner, wherein it has been alleged that the petitioner i.e. Mohd. Sultan alongwith other members from his in-laws family attacked the complainant and gave fist blows on her right eye and also kicked her in her abdomen. It is also alleged that the accused snatched a mobile phone from complainant's husband.

Pursuant to interim directions issued by this Court on 14.5.2020, the petitioner is stated to have joined investigation as has been informed by learned State counsel upon instructions from ASI Nirmal Singh. 4.

Having regard to the facts and circumstances of the case especially bearing in mind that it appears to be a case of dispute amongst family members and also keeping in view that the petitioner has since joined investigation, custodial interrogation of the petitioner is not warranted.
