Grievance herein is qua inordinate pendency of an application dated 27.10.2020 (Annexure P-1), seeking re-issue of passport from respondent No. 2 - Regional Passport Officer, Chandigarh. Petitioner seeks a mandamus for re-issuance of his passport.

Ms. Shweta Nahata, Advocate, joins on advance service and accepts notice on behalf of respondent Nos. 1 and 2.

Heard. Perused the paper book.

No ground for interference by this Court is made out, at this stage, inasmuch as, admittedly there is no decision under challenge before this court. Application for re-issue of passport (Annexure P-1) is still under consideration of respondent No. 2.

Judicial notice may also be taken of the delays being caused due to the scenario caused by current pandemic.

In the premise, instant petition is dismissed as pre-mature with liberty to the petitioner to pursue his pending application. The competent authority i.e. respondent No. 2 will look into it and take a decision, either way, giving cogent reasons, in accordance with law. However, in case of a favorable decision, appropriate steps be taken qua its implementation within a period of 60 days from the date of decision.
