The petitioners have approached this Court seeking protection of their lives and liberty, pleading that both of them are major and have performed marriage against the wishes of their parents and family members of petitioner No.2 and there is a threat to their lives and liberty. Notice of motion.

At this stage, Mr. Luvinder Sofat, AAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3.

The learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that a representation (Annexure P-4) has been submitted to respondent No.2, seeking necessary protection but no action has been taken so far in the matter.

CRWP-3568-2021 In the light of the aforesaid, without examining the question of validity of the marriage of the petitioners, the present petition stands disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police (Rural), Amritsar to look into the grievance of the petitioners expressed in the representation (Annexure P-4) and take appropriate action, as per law, if the situation so warrants.
