The landowners are in appeal seeking enhancement of compensation for the acquired land.

Briefly, the facts of the case are that vide notification dated 23.6.1989, issued under Section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 (for short, 'the Act'), Union Territory, Chandigarh sought to acquire land, situated in village Dhanas, Hadbast No.15, Union Territory, Chandigarh for soil conservation by Forest Department. The same was followed by notification, issued under Section 6 of the Act. The Land Acquisition Collector (for short, 'the Collector'), vide award dated 30.11.1990, assessed compensation @ ` 60,800/- per acre. Dissatisfied with the award of the Collector, the land owners filed objections. On reference under Section 18 of the Act, the learned court below upheld the award of the Collector. The same has been impugned by the landowners before this Court.

Learned counsel for the parties conceded that the claim made in the present appeal is squarely covered by the judgment of this court in R.F.A. No. 1887 of 1996-Dalbara Singh @ Darbara Singh (deceased) through LRs and others v. Union of India and others, decided on 4.1.2012.
