Prayer in this writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, is for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus, directing the official respondents to treat and consider the petitioner under the SC(M&B) category as per the Scheduled Caste Certificate dated 27.01.2021 (Annexure P-4) instead of SC (R&O) and further to consider and select the petitioner against the SC(M&B) category on merits.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that he would be satisfied if the representation dated 02.03.2026 (Annexure P-7) of the petitioner is decided by respondents No.3 and 4 by passing a speaking order in a time bound manner.

Learned State counsel, appearing on advance notice, submits that he has no objection, in case a direction is issued to MOHD YAKUB 2026.03.10 09:24 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document Punjab & Haryana High Court, Chandigarh.

CWP-6851-2026 respondents No.3 and 4 for time bound consideration and decision of the representation dated 02.03.2026 (Annexure P-7) of the petitioner by passing a speaking order.

Therefore, in view of the limited prayer made by learned counsel for the petitioner, the respondents No.3 and 4 are directed to consider the representation dated 02.03.2026 (Annexure P-7) of the petitioner and pass a speaking order, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner, within a period of 08 weeks from the date of receiving a certified copy of this order. Further, the decision taken thereof shall be conveyed to the petitioner. Needless to say, if the petitioner is found entitled to the relief sought, the same shall be granted forthwith by respondents No.3 and 4.
