Prayer made in the present petition is for directing the respondents to grant the benefit of pay/wages for each Saturday and other gazetted holidays. 2.

The petitioners were Class-IV employees, except Nos.9, 11, 17, 18 and 34, who were on Class-III posts.

Learned State counsel refers to the preliminary objections of the written statement dated 12.05.2004 filed by Principal Secretary to Governor, Punjab, to state that the petitioners, who were working on the household side of the Punjab Raj Bhawan, were granted privileges of rent free accommodation as per Governors (Allowances and Privileges) Rules, 1987, along with free electricity and water. They were working for 6 hours in a day on all working days as also granted a weekly off, whereas the normal working hours of the Government employees were 8, to which there was no rebuttal by way of filing any replication.
