(Oral) The petitioners have approached this Court seeking protection of their life and liberty on the premise that petitioner No.1 has performed marriage with petitioner No.2 against the wishes of her parents and other family members and the petitioners are apprehending threat to their life and liberty at their instance.

Notice of motion.

Mr.Deepak Grewal, DAG, Haryana, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State.

Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that a representation dated 21.06.2018 (P-5) was made to the Superintendent of Police, Rewari seeking necessary protection but no action has been taken so far in the matter.

with a direction to the Superintendent of Police, Rewari (respondent No.2) to look into grievance of the petitioners expressed in the representation (P-5) and take appropriate action, if any, warranted in the circumstances. It is clarified that the validity of the marriage is not decided in the present petition. Moreover, if there is any FIR lodged against petitioner No.2, the police would be at liberty to take action in accordance with law.
